Islamabad High Court to Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA). Stopped disciplinary action against TV channels.

Islamabad High Court Journalists Association had challenged PEMRA notification, Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Aamir Farooq issued a written hearing order on the application against PEMRA notification of not reporting court proceedings.

The Islamabad High Court has issued a notice to PEMRA on a plea against ban on reporting of court proceedings and restrained PEMRA from taking disciplinary action against TV channels.

The court has adjourned further hearing on the petition against the PEMRA notification till May 28.

It should be noted that the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists has also challenged the PEMRA notification in the Islamabad High Court.

On the other hand, a notice has been issued asking PEMRA to respond on May 29 to the petition against the ban on media coverage of court proceedings in the Lahore High Court.
